About
CONCEPT
A commons of time and worlds,
opened in the city of boundaries.
The past has not passed away, nor is the future something yet to arrive.
Kyoto stands at the "boundary" of time and of every world.
TimeDO is a place where the visible and the invisible meet: past, present, and future; this world and the otherworld; humans and nature; the depths of memory and imagination; order and deviation.
For more than a thousand years, in this city of boundaries, different times and worlds have overlapped to give rise to new culture.
Inherited memory, creation emerging in this moment, and futures not yet put into words — all of these continually intersect and circulate at the knot called "now," renewing the human world.
TimeDO is a base for cultural practice that renews humanity's shared imaginary — the social imaginaire — through art, craft, science, technology, thought, and story.
And that cultural practice is itself the invisible value humanity inherits and must hand on to the next generation.
About TimeDo
TimeDo is a cultural hub opening in November 2026 in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto. Comprising two gallery buildings, North and South, and a salon overlooking the Kyoto Imperial Palace, TimeDO brings together different times and worlds through exhibitions, projects, and dialogue, opening up new perspectives and cultural values.

Bringing together inherited memories, emerging forms of creativity, and futures yet to be articulated, the gallery collaborates with artists, researchers, and companies to open up new ways of seeing the world and create new cultural values.
Salon

A place where people and ideas come together, and new forms of culture emerge through dialogue.
Bringing together artists, craftspeople, researchers, designers, businesses, and members of the public from diverse backgrounds, the salon hosts talks, lectures, workshops, and research gatherings.
By exploring questions raised through exhibitions and connecting different disciplines, generations, and perspectives, the salon nurtures emerging ideas and possibilities for the future.
